Kitten rearing training
13 July 2017
You can be confident that any kittens we foster are in safe hands. As part of our ongoing training some of Telford & District Cats Protection volunteers took part in a kitten rearing training session earlier this month. Some our volunteers have a wealth of experience already but we are always open to learning anew or refreshing existing knowledge.
At the start of the session we had a catch up and a cuppa before the serious work of learning began. Dawn Gibson RVN CP Cat Welfare Officer for Scotland & Northern England gave a talk including areas such as development & health of a kitten, hygiene considerations, equipment, feeding and socialisation of kittens. We all had heart warming stories to tell of our own experiences and there were plenty of pictures of cute kittens at various stages of development.
At the end of the evening we all agreed that it was very informative and will be putting the techniques into practice when the need arises. Dawn told us that the techniques that Cats Protection promotes are being used as best practice for other organisations that rear kittens. Wow! that is great news! Testament to the success of our dedicated fosterers.
